MARJORIE ANDERSON KNIGHT AM MAppSc LFPRIA

Marjorie Anderson Knight was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in 2015.

Marjorie spent several years in Washington DC working directly to successive Australian ambassadors to the USA on high-level representational activities.

On returning to Australia, she worked in corporate affairs for CSR Limited at the board and general management level. She worked at various locations around Australia in a number of industries including aluminium smelting, building materials, chemicals, coal mining and ethanol production.

Subsequently Marjorie formed the Anderson Knight communication consultancy in partnership with Dr Ron Knight. They have been involved in a wide range of corporate affairs, public relations and marketing communication activities for clients across different industry sectors, and for private, government, and not-for-profit organisations.

For many years Marjorie has been involved in running business education programs ranging from the NSW Enterprise Workshop Program for entrepreneurial start-up businesses, to the Harvard Leadership Program with Professors from the Harvard University Business School for senior company executives, and a related program for leaders of charitable organisations.

She has been actively involved in the Public Relations Institute of Australia and was the first female National President of the PRIA. She received the PRIA Award for Distinguished Service and is a Life Fellow of the PRIA.  As founding Chair of the PRIA Education Committee she successfully implemented a PRIA accreditation process to set and maintain standards for university courses in public relations.

Marjorie’s involvement in university education led to being appointed to course advisory bodies at various universities around Australia, and as Adjunct Professor of Marketing Communication and Public Relations at the University of Canberra where she has lectured to master’s degree students.

RON KNIGHT BSc MSc(Hons 1) MBA PhD LFPRIA

Ron works in close cooperation with the client's management team to analyse situations, identify key issues and key players, and develop and implement communication strategies to bring about change.

With Anderson Knight Ron has worked with venture capital, high technology and various other businesses, professional associations and health issue charities.

His consulting activities have included annual reporting; being Corporate Affairs Director for Tooheys Limited; working with the Kawai piano company to increase market share from10% to 50%; representing the market research industry, particularly in the development of privacy legislation; and developing and implementing a national education program to prevent the loss of sight due to the eye disease glaucoma.

Previously, Ron was a Research Fellow at the University of Edinburgh in the UK where he completed a PhD in Physics, and a Research Associate at the University of Notre Dame in the USA where he gained research management experience.

In Australia he became involved in research program management and energy policy issues, particularly on the mining and export of uranium. He soon returned to the USA in a diplomatic role at the Australian Embassy in Washington DC to represent Australia in the USA and Canada.

After Washington, Ron was appointed to lead Australia’s participation in an international study on the development and implementation of safeguard arrangements on nuclear materials. He led one of the technical study groups and the Australian delegation at several international meetings.

Subsequently he had a diplomatic role within CSIRO liaising with Division Chiefs Australia-wide to gain acceptance for, and implementation of major structural and research program changes.
